Parking: Discount parking will be available at Wesley W. Posvar Hall for $10. This must be purchased in advance.

Join us for our annual day at Chautauqua Institution, a summer retreat promoting the arts, education and recreation. The morning lecturer will be Robin Wright, a contributing writer to The New Yorker and a fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. Robin Wright has covered a dozen wars and several revolutions, reporting from more than 140 countries on all seven continents for numerous publications, including The Washington Post, The New York Times Magazine, TIME, The Atlantic, The Sunday Times of London, and Foreign Affairs.

She also won the National Press Club Award for diplomatic reporting and has been the recipient of a MacArthur Foundation grant. Wright is the author of several books, including Dreams and Shadows: The Future of the Middle East, which was selected by The New York Times and The Washington Post as one of the most notable books of 2008. "Her 2011 book, Rock the Casbah: Rage and Rebellion Across the Islamic World, was selected as the best book on international affairs by the Overseas Press Club."

After lunch you will have the chance to hear Bill Moyers who has been recognized as one of the unique voices of our times.  His career in broadcast journalism has spanned five decades and earned him more than 36 Emmy Awards, nine Peabody Awards, six Alfred I. DuPont Columbia University Awards, the National Humanities Medal from the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. 

Lunch at the historic Athenaeum Hotel is included. You may structure your day to suit your interests—visit the wonderful bookstore and other interesting shops, stroll along the lake, or walk the magnificent grounds. While there are free mini-van transportation throughout the area, there is moderate walking involved on hilly terrain. Please note: the speakers are subject to change.
