Fall 2022 At-A-Glance is Live and Other Updates from the July 18 Newsletter

Osher Membership

If you need to purchase or renew your membership, please do so this week.
Course registration will go more smoothly with an active membership. We have had some difficulty this year with purchases and we do not want your registration delayed.

When purchasing memberships, some of our members have been experiencing issues related to website time outs and pop-up blockers, which prevent the payment page from displaying upon checkout. When purchasing a membership, we recommend using Chrome or Firefox as your web browser. Make sure your pop-up blockers are disabled for our registration site. If you do not see a payment page (to input your credit card number) upon checkout, please call the office at 412-624-7308.

Remember, course registration begins on Monday, July 25th.

Osher Office Hours

The office is staffed in person: Monday, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The phones and emails are answered Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

ID Cards

If you renew your membership or purchase a new membership, you will be contacted when you can get your new ID. Currently, ID cards are not necessary to get into Pitt campus buildings. If you need an ID to take advantage of Pitt Cheap Seat discounts or to use in the library, contact us at pjs27@pitt.edu and request your card. Otherwise the cards will be processed as we can. Do not go to get your new cards unless you receive an email telling you that your records have been updated. The updating is done manually, in a separate system.

Good News, CLO is again offering discounts!

Here's an update on Pittsburgh CLO 2022 Summer Season Cheap Seats: use promo code CLOUNIVERSITY for select $20 tickets for students, faculty and staff at https://pittsburghclo.culturaldistrict.org/

Course Registration Opens Monday, July 25

Registration on the 25th will not open before 8 a.m., but will open before 10 a.m. Please get a good night sleep.

Fall 2022 Catalog

The "print" version of the 2022 Fall Catalog will be posted as a PDF on our olli.pitt.edu site later this week.

In the meantime, the At-a-Glance, which lists course titles, instructors, and times, is online. Also, if you go to the OLLI registration site, the courses descriptions will be available, but you will not be able to put the courses in your cart and register until July 25th.

Later this week, we will also have a few printed catalogs available in the office if you prefer to come in and browse the course listings in print. (please observe office hours above)

University courses that are pre-approved for auditing will be released on July 25.

Instructors and Speakers Wanted

We are always looking for good one-time speakers and new instructors. If you know of someone who might want to teach, have them go to the website, there is a tab for instructors and it talks about how to propose a course.
If you know of someone who might give a one-time talk, have them contact Pat Szczepanski at pjs27@pitt.edu for consideration.

I’m sure each of you knows someone with a special talent, interest, unique research or knowledge that they could share.

(from Pat: if any of you know Tiger Woods call me immediately!!!!! He’s my hero!)

Summer Session 2 Evaluations

This week, you will receive the OMET (Office of Measurement and Evaluation of Teaching) evaluation emails from one of these two addresses:

TeachingSurvey@omet.pitt.edu or omet@.pitt.edu.

Ensure that these addresses are on your safe-sender list, and add them to your contacts. Otherwise, you may need to search your junk or spam folders to retrieve your OMET emails. Osher cares about your feedback, but there is little we can do to help you locate or retrieve OMETs that are filtered out by an email provider.

Please note: We are still working on the Gmail account issues. If you do not receive word from us that  that the Gmail issue has been resolved by the end of this week , you can use the alternate survey by clicking on this link:

(Alternate Survey Omitted for Public Website, and is available upon request)

In general, if you are experiencing any issues with the OMET, DO NOT CONTACT The Office of Measurement and Evaluation of Teaching. Instead, email us at osher@pitt.edu.
