Summer Session 1 OMETs and other Updates from This Week (June 6th, 2022)

OMET Evaluations

This week, you will receive the OMET (Office of Measurement and Evaluation of Teaching) evaluation emails from one of these two addresses:

TeachingSurvey@omet.pitt.edu or omet@.pitt.edu.

Ensure that these addresses are on your safe-sender list, and add them to your contacts. Otherwise, you may need to search your junk or spam folders to retrieve your OMET emails. Osher cares about your feedback, but there is little we can do to help you locate or retrieve OMETs that are filtered out by an email provider.

OMET Evaluations will run until Monday, June 20, 2022.

If you have dropped a class, you will still receive an OMET evaluation for that class. If your reason for dropping a class is related to course content or instructor, please fill out the evaluation to let us know why.

If you are experiencing any issues with the OMET, DO NOT CONTACT The Office of Measurement and Evaluation of Teaching. Instead, email us at osher@pitt.edu, and we will direct you to an alternate survey.

Dates for Fall Session - Not Yet Finalized

We love our members' enthusiasm and eagerness to learn, and we know that you are already looking forward to the Fall 2022 Session. We have had a few calls and emails inquiring about membership and registration dates, and of course, when the fall catalog will be available.

Our staff is working very hard to finalize details about the fall session.

We ask that you keep an eye on this newsletter in the upcoming weeks. We will let you know via the newsletter and here on the website when important Fall 2022 session dates are set and when course descriptions will be published.

Upcoming Holidays - Osher Office Closed

The Osher Office will be closed and there will be no Monday classes for these holidays:

Monday, June 20th - Juneteenth (Observance)
Monday, July 4th - Independence Day

For all other weeks this summer, the Osher office is physically staffed Monday through Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Phones are answered Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Schenley Plaza Exercise Classes

Schenley Plaza is part of the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, and it is right across the street from our office at Posvar Hall (Schenley Drive entrance).

The Conservancy offers free exercise class at the Plaza throughout the summer. One of the classes is taught by Roland Ford, an OLLI at Pitt instructor. In fact, you can check out his Dance and Be Fit class at the plaza on Thursdays 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. If you like what you see and how you move, you can register for his online Dance and be Fit course through Osher (2nd Summer Session, Friday's 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.).

Check out the events calendar at Conservancy website to read more about this class and other exercise classes this summer. They are free but do require registration. Make sure to check for cancellations due to weather.
