About Our Presenters

Kathleen Foody-Malus (A&S ’82, KATZ ’83)
Executive-in-Residence at Pitt Business

 
Kathleen Foody-Malus brings more than 30 years of diversified investment experience in the financial services industry. Most recently, she spent a decade at Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp. (Freddie Mac), as vice president/senior portfolio manager, responsible for the management of adjustable and fixed rate mortgage-backed securities portfolios. These portfolios ranked in the top 10 in size of securitized assets under management globally.

She began her career at Federated Investors in Pittsburgh where she spent 20 years focused on fixed income securities, notably mortgage-backed securities. As a vice president, she was responsible for managing eight total return fixed income mutual funds with assets totaling over $7 billion. 

Cynthia Caldwell, JD (LAW ’11)
Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development and Planned Giving,
Health Sciences and UPMC

 
Cynthia Caldwell focuses on fundraising at the University of Pittsburgh Schools of the Health Sciences and UPMC. She creates and implements innovative programs to increase planned giving, serves as the liaison with crucial partners across the University and UPMC, handles the administration of estates and trusts, and manages a portfolio of prospects. Cynthia started at Pitt as a charitable relationship manager where she was responsible for fundraising from alumni of several different schools aligned with the Provost of the University.
 
Prior to Pitt, Cynthia worked as an associate attorney. She currently volunteers in several roles for the Women’s Bar Association of Western Pennsylvania, the Pittsburgh Planned Giving Council, and the Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellows Program.
